Should all PL teams simply mug off all domestic cup competitions?
To clear up a bit of the fixture congestion issues that arise from being successful in, well, the PL?

If you don't bother entering then you don't have to worry about such games when there are far more important matches to be played later on in the season.

dealcanvey- Have to say that I was totally for booting the so called top six into their own ESL when the threat came and wouldn't be against that now. How the actions of these Traitors wasn't dealt with seriously at the time defies belief, but of course money/revenue is now what everything is about.

That will simply leave the bigger 6 with one less route to Europe and the minor 14 one less stool to fall between.

I've said nowhere that I don't want West Ham to win (a pot, the league anything) but spreading what resources we have too thinly risks us (and the other 13) losing out everywhere.

Maybe the home cup competitions should be tweaked such that at least 4 of the team that won the previous round must start in the next game?

Then teams can arrange a money spinning friendly in some far off land..
No thanks

Spaz post. Surely the name of the game is to win a pot. Not as if we’re ever going to challenge for the title is it. Generally our league form in the top flight bar a few notable occasions has been battling against the drop

Re: Should all PL teams simply mug off all domestic cup competitions?
Scrapping domestic competitions does not mean it will free up more time for players. It will just pave the way for other franchises and something along the lines of an ESL module.

Once Fans give up on domestic competitions you are paving the way for the ESL to go ahead.

We should be taking all cups seriously. Only chance for silverware and European qualification considering our terrible start in the league.

We have more than enough players to put serious teams out in all competitions
No need to play just kids but you'd hope for a game like Blackburn we'd play the likes of ASHBY & DOWNES

No, but teams in Europe should not be entered into the League Cup. That would solve everything.

shall we sack off a competition that is so shit that we've never even won it? Not even close since 1981.

Ha Ha ha... just what I was thinking Miike.... never forget that fishy breath cunt for that team he put out v Sheffield Weds in the Cup... been bigging it up all week ... been advertising it on Budweiser adverts in teh week before the game... so a few of us make the trek to Hillsbrough and he basically shoves out a team of kids... I thought it was impossible to hate that cunt anymore

PL teams will continue to play in any cup competition that provides a route into Europe.

Re: Should all PL teams simply mug off all domestic cup competitions?
I just 'enjoy' watching West Ham play, so I don't care how many games we play, just so long as it is roughly the same amount as other teams in Europe.

The more competitions we're in, the more chance of a trophy and I've waited long enough since 1980 to win another one! Gotta be in it to win it apparently.
